Here’s the workshop schedule and tabling lineup for the 2026 Tsí Tkarón:to’ Anarchist Bookfair!

As a reminder: the Bookfair is taking place on October 17th, 11 AM – 5 PM at United Steelworkers Hall, 25 Cecil Street, so-called Toronto. Please wear a mask, don’t record or film anyone without consent, and leave smart glasses and other surveillance tech at home. We keep each other safe!

Workshops:

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Introduction to Tenant Organizing

Tenant organizing as a venue of class struggle is becoming more prominent in Toronto and around the globe as the “housing crisis” intensifies. Many methods and tactics used in this space borrow directly from labour organizing, such as structured organizing conversations, charting, power mapping, etc., and are powerful for opposing existing power structures. While these borrowed tools are certainly impactful in tenant contexts, the context of organizing with/as tenants, where people live with their communities, necessitates a rebalancing of focuses and actions. In tenant organizing conversations, mutual aid is often treated as a separate tactic, referring to acts like hosting potlucks, providing child care or food for tenant events, or even the formation of board game groups or connecting gym buddies. However, the goals of both mutual aid and ideally any form of “organizing” is to create new social relations that are more survivable than and materially challenge hierarchical status quos. While the ends are often the same, the means utilized in “mutual aid” conversations and “tenant organizing” conversations rarely overlap. In this workshop, facilitators and participants will aim to bridge some of these real or perceived differences in methods.  As tenant organizers trained in labour tactics, the facilitators will share and seek to hear from participants about some of the challenges and successes from past and current actions. The facilitators will work to make the case that organizing tenant unions IS mutual aid, and that anarchists should participate in these spaces of struggle to work to create non-hierarchical, decentralized pockets of working class power.

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Building an Anarchist World Through Relationship Anarchy

How do we build a world without masters when we still play the role of master in our private lives? Relationship Anarchy is far more than a dating philosophy, it is a vital form of prefigurative politics. It is the active practice of interrogating how state hegemony, white supremacy, and capitalism move through our most intimate connections. By mapping out and dismantling the rigid hierarchies we default to in our personal lives, we engage in the essential emotional and social calisthenics required for the larger project of collective liberation. The state will always default to authoritarianism, and fascism thrives on the psychological urge to dominate or be dominated. This interactive workshop will give you the tools to break that cycle from the ground up. We will explore how to stop looking for power over others, challenge the conditioning of ownership and control, and practice building horizontal, resilient relationships. Join us to learn how transforming the way we love and connect is a foundational defense against fascism and a necessary step toward an anarchist world.

3:45 PM – 4:45 PM: Resisting Capitalist Narratives: Revisiting Disability Justice and Anarchism in 2026

This workshop will outline how the ten principles of disability justice (Sins Invalid) can support and inform anarchist solidarity. The workshop will identify that it is only within non-institutional spaces that disability justice and a commitment to mutual aid can thrive. Participants will leave the session with suggestions of tangible actions that can be put in place for organizing in a way that supports different bodyminds and resists capitalist cults of productivity. The workshop is designed to allow seasoned organizers as well as those newer to anarchist organizing to see opportunities to create larger networks and solidarity by being more inclusive in event hosting, outreach, and communications. Knowing that one in four people are disabled and more are likely to become disabled in their lifetimes, a rise in disabling viruses, and climate disasters, now is a crucial time to discuss how we can protect and support each other through the principles of disability justice.

We hope that by providing anarchists in Tsí Tkarón:to’ a space to gather, build relationships, and share ideas, we are able to aid in both efforts in some small manner.
